A special baby blanket to be knitted in DK weight yarn.
This timeless pattern looks like little sail boats and would be just as pretty in a coloured yarn as it does in white. The pattern is suitable for advanced beginners as well as more experienced knitters. To work this pattern you will need to be able to knit and purl, decrease and work yarn overs. There is a central decrease in the pattern and this is explained fully in the abbreviations.
The pattern is written for two sizes of blanket, 71 x 81 cm / 28 x 32 inches and a larger 86 x 96.5 cm / 34 x 38 inches.
Any DK weight yarn is suitable. You will need : 5 x 50g balls of yarn or 800 m / 875 yards for the small blanket 7 x 50g balls of yarn or [1155 m / 1263 yds ] for the large blanket.
Gauge/tension: 22 sts x 28 rows to 10 cm / 4 inches in stocking stitch.
Instructions: The pattern has both written and charted instructions so you can work from whichever you prefer. A list of abbreviations and explanation of any special or unusual stitches in given in the pattern.
