This blanket has an unusual stitch pattern made up of small lace and garter stitch squares. The pattern tilts and turns with the natural twist of the stitches.
Sizes: Small – 60 x 76 cm / 23½ x 30 inches approx.
Large – 81 x 97 cm / 32 x 38 inches approx.
Yarn: Sirdar Snuggly DK – 55% Nylon/45% Acrylic, 165m (180yds) - or equivalent baby yarn.
Small: 5 x 50g balls
Large: 8 x 50g balls
Needles: 3.75 mm & 4 mm needles (or size to reach the correct tension, plus needles of one size smaller for edging)
Use needles long enough to hold the number of stitches comfortably. A circular needle (used for flat knitting) of approx. 60 or 80 cm / 24 or 30 inches is ideal although a pair of long straight needles can be used.
Tension: 24 sts to 10 cm / 4 inches in pattern stitch using larger needles.
Tension is not crucial in a blanket, but if you knit to a different tension your blanket will be larger or smaller, and take a different amount of yarn.
Techniques Used: knit, purl, k2tog, yo, ssk (or sl1, k1, psso).
Notions: Yarn needle for sewing in ends.
