Heartwood Baby Blanket - DK knitting Pattern - PDF

Heartwood is an easy to knit baby blanket that is adaptable to any colour scheme.

The textured stripe pattern is easy to work and really effective in the finished blanket. Instructions are given for two stripe and four stripe versions.

The pattern is suitable for the beginner knitter with a little experience, techniques used are all straightforward and the pattern is easily remembered - so makes a great take along or TV project.

Colour sequence boxes are given for the samples shown but there are two spare sets of boxes for you to colour in your own for easy reference.

The pattern is written for a DK weight yarn.

The finished size of the blanket is: 64 x 76 cm / 25 x 30 inches.

Yarn:
The samples shown were knitted in Paintbox Simply DK - an easy care acrylic yarn (276m / 302 yds per 100g) and King Cole Authentic DK - a cotton mix yarn (242 m / 264 yds per 100g)
but any DK weight yarn will work just as well.

The two colour blanket takes 200g of each of two colours, or 500m each of two colours of a DK weight yarn.
The four colour blanket takes 100g of each of four colours, or 250m of each of four colours in a DK weigh yarn.

Needles: 4mm and 3.5mm needles - (or size to get you the required tension and needles of two sizes smaller than your main needle). Circular needles are recommended due to the large number of stitches.
