The pre-printed version of this pattern, for UK postage only, is available in my shop.

The interesting pattern on this baby blanket is mosaic or slip-stitch knitting. Only one colour is used in any row, the remaining stitches are simply slipped.
The basic pattern is garter stitch, so no purling at all, which makes for a thick, warm blanket.

The pattern has two options for edges. You can make the blanket as shown with solid borders added after the main blanket has been finished, or if you do not want to pick up stitches, you can knit the borders at the same time which will result in striped borders (not shown).

The pattern is both written and charted so you can work from whichever you prefer.

The pattern is written for two sizes,
22 x 30 inches / 56 x 76 cm and 32 x 38 inches / 81 x 97 cm. The length is easily adjusted.

Yarn: DK yarn suitable for a baby blanket.
The sample pictured was knitted with Wendy Peter Pan DK - 55% Polyamide, 45% Acrylic; 160m/174yds per 50g. In colours: C1 Main shade—Denim Drift (PD22) C2 Contrast colour– Ice Cream (PD02).

You will need approx. 3 [5] x 50g balls in C1 Main shade & 3[5] x 50g balls in C2 Contrast colour
OR approx. —500 [850] meters / 547 [930] yds in C1 Main shade & 400 [700] meters / 438 [766] yds in C2 Contrast colour.

Needles: 4mm / US 6 circular needle at least 80cm/32" long. You can use a straight needles if they are long enough to accommodate the number of stitches for the size you are making.

This is a straighforward knit, with only knit and slip stitches. If you are adding borders afterwards you will also need to know how to pick up stitches.
